Not Constrained Correctly?
The Most Worthless Error Message
This is a gripe not a question. I get this sometimes while trying to mesh complex geometry.
"
The requested shape change failed because it results in
the deletion of the highlighted geometry. This geometry has
an association that cannot be deleted. "
1) No geometry is highlighted!
2) What does it mean?
I have slowly come to learn that this message indicates that certian idealizations can not share the same point. There is no indication where the problem is located and what can not share a point. This measage predates WF and it still exsists in Creo.
Insufficient Contraints
So I'm trying to Run an analysis on an assembly and I am getting the error of (see picture). I have been able to run a few successful analysis but lately they are coming up with this Analysis. Any suggestions?
Nonlinear Contact analysis of assembly w/ one component containing hyperelastic material properties, can it be done?
Hi all,
Is it possible to run an contact analysis on an assembly where you have 3 components and the one in the center has Hyperelastic material properties?
The 3 components are not bonded and the middle one is a rubber part not bonded to the outer 2.
Thanks

MDO help
I need to calculate torque/force acting on the outer friction disc.
The inner friction disc rotates alongwith the shaft and the outer friction disc only rotates when it comes in contact with the inner disc. (Basic principle of clutch)
I'm not sure how to constrain the outer disc in such a way that it rotates due to friction and not as a part of the rest of the assembly.
Also, is it possible to calculate heat generated due to friction??
Please help!!
Display Mechanica study status in batch mode
Hi everybody,
Is it possible to display "run status" (interactive diagnostics) while running analysis in batch mode ?
I mean the content of the .rpt file but I'd like to see it displayed in a prompt command as new lines are added in the .rpt file.
Any help would be appreciated.
Batch Mechanica - Available options
Hello,
Does anybody know if it is possible to specify option for each analysis.
For example : activating particular Rigid-links or desactivating a Mass or Restriction ?
I can't find documentation about Batch options/scripts for Mechanica.
Many thanks for your help !
x-sections
In WF4/5 setting a cross section active in Pro/E meant that it could be seen/used in Mechanica.
This was useful, example defining contact regions on concentric internal components, picking the surfaces was less confusing.
I know we can use 'hide' but in some circumstances it is not as good.
How can we see x-sections in Creo Simulate?
Thanks
FEM analysis of a spring
Hi all,
I've designed a spring and I want to see if the value of tensions are, more or less, the same I've calculated with the formulas.
The matetial is "springflex" with
E=206000 MPa
G=81500 MPa
Su=2270 MPa
d=0.9mm
In my calculation, the spring is verified.
Anyway, the results that Mechanica gives me (I've used WF5 for the FEM simulation) provides tensions much much high...
I've done two tipe of analysis:
1) I've imposed the displacement (35 mm)
2) I've imposed the force (25 N)
but, for me, the results are incorrect but I don't know why.
I've tryed "linear" and "non-linear" analisys for with large deformations.
Greetings
Bonded contact analysis
Hello,
I am trying to do a FEA on bonded contact model, which I ran with contact before.
Even I tried to implement a bonded contact (componenet to componenet) and changed to bonded in model setup, it is not being detected. During the review geometry option it is not even showing that, which is very strange.
Anyone have solution for this?
Regards

Material file database (again)
Hello all - I'm new to this group but a seasoned Pro/E designer and experienced Mechanica user based on Ireland.
I have a job on which requires me to finally get to grips with the new elastic-plastic analysis functionality of Simulate 2 and apply it to a forming operation on a small 300 series stainless steel tube. Would anybody on here be prepared to share a material definition file for one of these steels, set up with stress/strain data for LDA? I'm not trying to freeload and would be happy to work collaboratively and reciprocally with one or more knowledgeable users who may also also be working to develop confidence in this powerful new functionality.
Many thanks
Tony
Optimization methods/algorithms
What methods or algorithms are available in Creo when conducting an optimization study?
If descriptions of these methods are not commonly known a brief explanation would be greatly appreciated.
Creo Simulate 3.0
Hi,
Does anyone know where to get a list of what's coming up in Creo Simulate 3.0?
Thanks
Transient thermal
Hello there,
Creo2.0 M060
A transient thermal analysis, requesting full results at each user defined interval ...
1. I cannot space the master steps equally, the button is greyed out (attached screenshot)
2. I cannot overtype 'auto' with my own numbers.
3. Despite full results being selected for each time step (whatever that is determined by the s/w), only full results for time=0 is available to view.
4. In Structure I get the error message that there isn't a thermal analysis with user defined steps.
Soooo,
I presume we are being ushered toward steady state with nonlinear/Use Load Histories as with the nonlinear buttons pressed it appears I can do the above (haven't actually run a model yet)
The help guides users to create a transient thermal by 'FILE>NEW TRANSIENT THERMAL'
Have I missed the point or is 'transient thermal' about to disappear in the form that I used to use?
Thanks
PS. Why can't I have negative convection coefficients any more?
Multiple Batch Mechanism Analysis
Good Day All,
As far as I can tell it's not possible to do batch analysis when in Pro/E (Creo) Mechanism?
Trying to run multiple mechanism analyses on one assembly and using multiple simplified reps.
Would like to set the mechanism analysis up so they are run automatically by distributed batch or the way Pro/E Mechanica (Simulate) runs in batch mode.
I have multiple analyses that take either several hours to run or days and would like to set it up walk away and just let them run.
I would also like to automate the process of saving off the measurement graph data to excel format along with an mpeg movie file for each analysis.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for any help you can throw my way,
Don Anderson
Unable to select Hyperelasticity analysis in Static Analysis Definition
Good Day All,
--- Analysis that works----
I have a mount sub assembly (just 3 components) in which I'm able to run a Hyperelasticity analysis with out any issues.
This assembly contains one part with Hyperelastic material properties and 2 parts with non-Hyperelastic properties. The assembly also includes the following bonded, contact constraints and ground springs.
---Analyis with Problem Not Solved---
When trying to set-up a Static analysis on a higher level assembly with the same mount sub assembly included, I'm not allowed to select Hperelasticity in the Static Analysis Definition dialog box. This level of the assembly includes additional components, mechanica Fastener definitions, ground springs, multiple force definitons and displacement constraints, and additonal non Hyperelastic materials and some surface regions.
So my question is What would prevent you from selecting Hyperelasticity in the Static Analysis dialog box?
Thanks for any help you can send my way,
Don Anderson
PTC Creo Simulate License Problem
Hello,
When I open a part in PTC Creo Simulate it keeps coming up with a box that says "unable to get required Creo Simulate license." How do we fix this problem and attain our license number?
Sub-assemblies registering as 0 mass in top assembly?
I'm trying to run a dynamic analysis using a servo motor and just gravity for a landing gear, but everytime I try I get an error message stating parts have zero mass. I know it's the sub-assemblies that are causing this because when they are removed, the dynamic analysis works just fine. Unfortunately the subassemblies are a requirement for the project. Material files are assigned to every part, all part files and assembly files are in the same units and the sub-assembly files give mass measuremtns for the parts contained in the subassembly. It's only when I go to the top assembly that the analysis fails, and mass analysis of the top assembly says the two sub-assemblies have unknown material and masses. I have no idea how to fix this and would appreciate any and all help!
simulation problem on connection part
Hello everyone,
I met a problem when doing simulation on the connection part. I tried to provied some force on the connection interface(see the attachment), but the analysis failed and the diagnostics says : Run completed with fatal error. Do you have any suggestions on that?
Thanks a lot:)
creo simulate, multi-pass adaptive, number of passes
I am conducting a study using the stress analysis features in creo simulate but I can't explain the steps the process is taking. I am using the multi-pass adaptive convergence method using maximum von mises stress as my measurement with a targeted convergence of 1%. I set the minimum P-order to 1 and the maximum P-order to 9.
What I can not explain is why this method is using only 7 passes to calculate a solution. The solution is not converging until the 9th order bias functions so it is not stopping because it has converged.
I would expect the method to run a pass for each polynomial order and increase those elements that have not yet converged until the maximum p-order is reached or all elements have converged. The method appears to be skipping a couple of these passes for the 3rd and 5th polynomial order.
I have attached the run status summary file from my analysis. It can be seen that the second pass uses 2nd order functions and the third pass jumps to 4th order functions. the same jump can be seen between the fourth and fifth passes.
I tried setting the maximum p-order to 3 and the results returned a maximum p-order of 2. If I set the maximum p-order to 4 and the results returned a maximum p-order of 4 and included elements with a p-order of 3.
Can anyone can shed some light on why the multi-pass adaptive method is not running a pass for each p-order or why the solution returned (which had not converged) when I set the maximum p-order to 3 did not include 3rd order elements.
Thank you,
