Format Measure Window in Mechaism?

$

I'm running Mechanism in WF4.  For the result measures window I get yellow text, green results, and a black background.   I'll need to print these results out in paper for meetings, and a black background doesn't work.  The blended background is better, but the yellow writing tends to wash out.  I can edit the graph display for that graph to make the background white and the text dark, but that involves multiple places where the text color has to be changed (12 I think).

Is there a way to edit the format of the results graphs and save it so I can use it elsewhere?  I'm tired of clicking.

Hello everybody, I explain my problem : I have a design of a pipe, and I created a mass spring system to reprensented a compressor attached to the pipe.

And now I want to import a new design of pipe to attached to the "compressor". So I would like to get the system "pipe 1 + compressor + pipe 2" but I don't know how to import a second pipe if I have already one !! I hope this is clear... Could someone help me please ??!!

Dynamic Random Analysis - using load functions

I am wanting to conduct a Dynamic Random Analysis using load functions. Most everything I have read deals with only base excitation.

My units are IPS

I have an acoustic  PSD table that is in psi^2/Hz

I have imported the values into the load functions as a table.  (No units are associated with it)

1.     What type of load would I associate with the table function it to represent the acoustic environment?

2.     If a load is associated with a load function of “uniform” is that the same as a static load?

3.     How do I estimate a damping Coefficient (%) for a welded aluminum structure?

How to measure stress value at certain distance from the highest stress point

Hello!

In pro mechanica, I have done a static study. Now I need to estimate stresses at certain distace in the model. Does anybody know how can I obtain easily?

1 way is to use "dynamic query" but I cannot locate a point where I want the stress.

another way is "simulation measures" but it ends with fatal error(due to my points(where i need the stress) are not at the element node)

So if someone help with this, then I would be so grateful.

Thanks in advance.

MDO Gear Loads - "Use in Structure" (WF5, Creo 1 & 2)

Has anybody noticed that gear tooth loads are not available to pass to a Structure analysis when you select "Use in Structure" from a mechanism analysis (MDO)?  I find this hard to believe that it’s been left out.  Do any of you have a need for this functionality?  I’d be interested to hear from anyone on this topic.

Thanks!

Hello!

I would like to know how can I create 8 nodes and 16 nodes element in meshing.

under "control mesh" I have searched but I could not find anything like that, so can anyone help me with this? Thank you in advance.

FEM on rubber disk

Hello everyone,

I am new to Creo simulation and met some problems as below:

1. I wanna see how much deflection of rubber disk could be if providing 10 bar on the surface of inner ring. Rubber disk is equipped in the plastic device ( showed in the picture), so when it moves up, it will be blocked by the contact surface with the device( marked as the red circle), which means I need define the constrait on the contact surface, but I dont know how to do that. The top and bottom of outer ring are placed on the plastic part , so I give a constraint on them as well.

2. The rubber disk and plastic device as an assembly part, I am not sure if it is ok to do FEM on an assembly part.

3. The deformation of rubber disk compares to the dimension of rubber disk is small, so I considered it as linear situation, is that ok?

If anyone can help with these problems, I would appreciate that:)

Mechanica - Thermal Distortion Analysis

I'm attempting to quantify the expected distortion / deformation of a part as it undergoes a thermal transition. Assuming the part is fabricated at room temperature and is cooled to extreme temperatures, how much do the features deform?

The Thermal side of Mechanica does not have any analyses that will display deformation, only Flux and Temperature -- the structural side has a Global Temperature tool, but the deformation seems arbitrarily constrained around one corner of the part, instead of axi-symmetric as I might have predicted.

Is this a problem Mechanica can help solve? Can I get some pointers to get moving in the right direction?

How to measure torque, when applying force on a leaver arm?

Hello,

May be it seem very easy task to do but beginner like me in Creo 2.0 need your help.
Please if anyone knows how I can measure torque, when apply force on leaver arm.

I am sure there will be a very straight forward way to do it so please help me.

Actually I want to simulate for a 4 links robotic arm with 4 rotational joints and I want to know if robotic arm lift 2 kg load from robotic arm end-effector then how much torque I need to has for my joint actuators. Will Static and dynamic analysis help me?

Please answer me or refer me to any document or tutorial.

Looking forward for your help

Non linear or linear setup in fastener simulation in creo?

As assigning fastener connections to the assembly, creo simulate creates contact surfaces in between two surfaces. My question is whether I should check the "Nonlinear/ Use load histories" box or not?  For the contact analysis simulation, I always check the "Nonlinear" and then "Contact"?

Thanks

Boundary Condition on Internal Surface?

$

I have several scenarios where the end of a flat bar is in contact with the flat side of a plate of steel.  There is a convection boundary condition on the side of the plate of steel and on the sides (not the end) of the the flat bar.  When running the simulation for heat transfer, I get warnings about the boundary condition (on the side of the plate of steel) is against and internal surface (the end of the flat bar).   I'm given the option to ignore it.

What is actually happening when it is ignored?

Does the simulator just disregard that boundary condition over the area of the end of the flat bar and use the material properties of both pieces to calculate the thermal conduction between the two pieces?

Or is the simulator altogether disregarding the thermal conduction between the two pieces?

Is there an interface type that I should define between the two parts that the simulator will recognize and know not to apply the boundary condition at the mating surface?

Many thanks for your help!

About Redundancies and DOF

a simple case

If i have a gear and a a ground body.the gear rotates through a motor.then

DOF=6M-N-O

in this case M is the bodies except ground which is 1

N is the total number of contraints imposed by joints.in my cas it is pin so it restricts 5 constraints

O is the driver which is 1.

Putting these in the Grubler equation gives

DOf=6*1-1*5-1=0

but i know that it should be one degree of freedom.ie as it rotates

the system types measures of DOF also gives 0.

What is the reason it gives 0 instead of 1.

Elastoplastic Material with Assembly Contact

This  PTC article https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS66550 claims to allow:

  • Ability to include plasticity, hyper-elasticity and contact effects in the same analysis

This seems to imply plasticity in assembly with contacts, yet the plasticity option is greyed out for me. I have one part with elastoplastic properties defined of a two part assembly .

I am running Creo 2.0 M070. Am I missing something? Is this capability indeed available?

Pro/M optimisation: "invalid model or geometry"

$

I'm trying to run an optimisation study on a gear with a thin web and holes drilled through the web.

I've set up some relations to keep the web in the middle of the gear facewidth, and I've used the web thickness and the hole diameter as design variables in the study.

The .rpt file keeps giving the error:

** Warning: Changing the parameters has produced invalid
model or geometry for the following parameter
            values:

Parameters:
d18                      10.14   (this is the web thickness, which started at 10)
d28                         20   (hole diameter, unchanged in this iteration)
Recovering from invalid parameter values by cutting
step size.

but if I go back to the model and enter the values it shows (which are only a small change from the start point) it regenerates fine.

What gives?

(Initially I used the number of holes as a variable, leaving the diameter fixed, but it recognised the unit as "mm" and then started trying to use non-integer values!)

Edit: I've tried it with both "Repeat P-Loop Convergence" and "Remesh after each shape update" selected, and now with neither selected.  Same result either way.

Edit 2: It seems to be running, but for every iteration it has to go through about four 'invalid geometry' cycles, which is making it really slow...

Calculating Flow Area in a valve

I am trying calculate the flow area in a butterfly valve and am having some issues trying to quickly grab area measurements. Currently, I open the valve x amount of degrees, then sketch the profile of the angled butterfly plate, fill it, then measure the area of that filled sketch. It works pretty well but it is VERY time consuming. I have also tried to use the shadow analysis tool but it isn't quite accurate enough for what I need.

Is there a better way???

Bonded contact analysis

Hello,

I am trying to do a FEA on bonded contact model, which I ran with contact before.

Even I tried to implement a bonded contact (componenet to componenet) and changed to bonded in model setup, it is not being detected. During the review geometry option it is not even showing that, which is very strange.

Anyone have solution for this?

I have a lot of analysis files on my computer which I need to delete. Is there a way of deleteing them through Creo, or do I have to go through my documents?

Thanks
